Conscious City Guide to Amsterdam

By Hanna Pumfrey

On my recent visit to Amsterdam, I fell in love. No this is not post-valentine’s day thinking, I fell in love with the city that is. As a Londoner, I think there is a tendency to think that there is no life outside of our city and that we do it the best. Oh, London, you have so much to learn, particularly on the sustainability scene. Amsterdam is leading the charge in eco-friendly living and I only hope we can adopt some of its ways in London in the near future.

Amsterdam is extremely innovative when it comes to sustainability, so keeping it green on your weekend away is simple in this city. With cycling as the main mode of transport, a shift towards alternative energy and local- minded bars and restaurants, you will soon see the significance of sustainable living in this city’s story.

Here’s my round-up of eco-friendly establishments, conscious activities and moral-minded accommodation.
